Prof. Rajkumar Buyya

Dr. Rajkumar Buyya is a Redmond Barry Distinguished Professor and Director of the Cloud Computing and Distributed Systems (CLOUDS) Laboratory at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He is also serving as the founding CEO of Manjrasoft, a spin-off company of the University, commercializing its innovations in Cloud Computing. He has authored over 850 publications and seven textbooks including “Mastering Cloud Computing” published by McGraw Hill, China Machine Press, and Morgan Kaufmann for Indian, Chinese and international markets respectively. Dr. Buyya is one of the highly cited authors in computer science and software engineering worldwide (h-index=155, g-index=342, and 127,200+ citations).  Dr. Buyya is recognised as Web of Science “Highly Cited Researcher” for six consecutive years since 2016, IEEE Fellow, and Scopus Researcher of the Year 2017 with Excellence in Innovative Research Award by Elsevier. He has been recognised as the “Best of the World” twice for research fields (in Computing Systems in 2019 and Software Systems in 2021) as well as “Lifetime Achiever” and “Superstar of Research” in “Engineering and Computer Science” discipline twice (2019 and 2021) by the Australian Research Review. Recently, he received “Research Innovation Award” from IEEE Technical Committee on Services Computing and “Research Impact Award” from IEEE Technical Committee on Cloud Computing.

Software technologies for Grid, Cloud, and Fog computing developed under Dr.Buyya’s leadership have gained rapid acceptance and are in use at several academic institutions and commercial enterprises in 50+ countries around the world. Manjrasoft’s Aneka Cloud technology developed under his leadership has received “Frost New Product Innovation Award”. He served as founding Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing. He is currently serving as Editor-in-Chief of Software: Practice and Experience, a long-standing journal in the field established 50+ years ago. PROF. JEREMY BLACKBURN

Jeremy Blackburn is an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Computer Science at Binghamton University. Jeremy is broadly interested in data science, with a focus on large-scale measurements and modeling. His largest line of work is in understanding jerks on the Internet. His award winning research into understanding toxic behavior, hate speech, and fringe and extremist Web communities has been covered in the press by the likes of The Washington Post, the New York Times, and Infowars, among others.

Jeremy has an Erdos-Bacon number of <= 7, has been quoted by Zizek, and has had at least one League of Legends account permabanned.


 

PROF. Maria Valdes Hernandez

Maria Valdes Hernandez is a Lecturer in Medical Image Analysis at The University of Edinburgh. Maria is broadly interested in image processing and image analysis. She was graduated with merits as Electronic Engineer and MSc in Electronics from the Central University of Las Villas, Cuba, PhD in Electronics and Informatics from Gunma University, Japan. She also obtained the Post-graduate certificate in University Teaching from The University of Edinburgh, UK. She also has several high impact publications in journals, invited oral presentations and software expositions nationally and internationally,

Maria has reputation in establishing successful national and international collaborations that are leading to further grants and institutional collaborative programmes.

DR. WAHYU CAESARENDRA

Dr. Wahyu Caesarendra is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Integrated Technologies, Universiti Brunei Darussalam since October 2018. He received a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Diponegoro University, Indonesia in 2005. He worked in the automotive and electrical company prior to joining Diponegoro University as a Lecturer in 2007. He received New University for Regional Innovation (NURI) and Brain Korea 21 (BK21) scholarships for Master study in 2008 and obtained his Master of Engineering (M.Eng) degree from Pukyong National University, South Korea in 2010. In 2011, Wahyu Caesarendra was awarded of University Postgraduate Award (UPA) and International Postgraduate Tuition Award (IPTA) from the University of Wollongong. He received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from the University of Wollongong in 2015.

He has authored over 130 research articles in Journals and Conference proceedings (h-index=24 and 2200+ citations). He worked as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Rolls-Royce@NTU Corp Lab, School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore from February 2017 to September 2018. He was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) in August 2019. He is currently acting as Faculty Research Coordinator and Research Member of the Institute of Applied Data Analytics (IADA).


 

DR. MAHARDHIKA PRATAMA

Assoc. Prof. Mahardhika Pratama is currently an associate professor and enterprise fellow in AI at the academic unit of STEM, University of South Australia, Adelaide, Australia. Prior to this appointment, he was an assistant professor at the school of CSE, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore from 2017 to Jan 2022, a lecturer at the department of CSIT, La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia from 2015 to 2017 and a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Technology Sydney, Sydney, Australia from 2014 to 2015. Mahardhika earned a PhD degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia in Nov 2014, a M.Sc degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in Nov 2011 and a B.Eng degree from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Indonesia in Mar 2010.

The research focus of Mahardhika is in deep learning where he is an active researcher in continual learning, lifelong learning, incremental learning, stream learning, fuzzy neural networks, and intelligent control systems. The goal of his study is to develop a deep learning algorithm that can learn forever as the case of biological learning. The application domain of his study includes manufacturing and satellite systems. He mainly published his works in IEEE TNNLS, IEEE TFS, IEEE TCYB, AAAI, SIGKDD, ICDM, ECML PKDD, CIKM, etc. and serves as an associate editor of IEEE TNNLS, IEEE TFS, INS, KBS, CAIS, Complexity, EVOS, JDC. His works have been recognized by several research awards such as 2019 IEEE TFS prestigious publication award, 2019 Amity researcher award in data streams, 2014 and 2013 UNSW high-impact publication award, and 2011 IES prestigious engineering achievement award. Mahardhika have secured ~$4 million in research funding where 7 PhD students and 6 postdoctoral research fellows have graduated successfully under his supervision. 4 of whom currently work as an assistant professor at reputed universities such as IIIT, Hyderabad, India, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China, University of Bristol, UK. Maj. Gen. Jonni Mahroza, Ph.D.

Jonni Mahroza graduated from Indonesian Military Academy in 1989, and served as a commanding officer at the 2nd Battalion of Air Defense of Artillery in Malang, East Java up to 1999.

While serving in Malang, he finished his first degree in Political Science from Open University in 1995, and his M.A in International Relations from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, U.K. in 1997.    

In 1999 he served as a staff officer at the Artillery Centre in Cimahi, and gained his Ph.D in Defense Studies from Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia in 2006, after which he moved to Army Command and Staff College, then to the Ministry of Defense in 2009.

While working as a defense analyst at the Ministry of Defense, he was also lecturing various subjects related to war and strategy at the Republic of Indonesia Defense University.

In 2011 he moved to the Strategic Intelligent Agency of the Indonesian Armed Forces, then assigned as Defense Attaché in London, U.K., and a non-resident Defense Attaché to the Kingdom of Sweden and the Kingdom of Denmark in from 2012 to 2015.   

He also gained M.Sc. in National Security Strategy from his study at National War College of National Defense University, Washington D.C. from 2016 to 2017.

Jonni Mahroza was awarded an Honorary Officer of British Empire (O.B.E) by Queen Elizabeth-II in 2012 for his role in strengthening the defense cooperation between Indonesia and the United Kingdom.
